Brick by Brick: LEGO Shipbuilding at Hampton Roads Naval Museum
February 4, 2012 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
Building with LEGOs is a celebrated pastime where enthusiasts of all ages collect and create miniature models. In the spirit of creativity, the Hampton Roads Naval Museum is holding a FREE program about building ships with LEGOs on Saturday, February 4, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Hampton Roads Naval Museum wants guests to bring their already-built LEGO ships (made from a kit or from scratch) to display at the museum for the day.
Don’t have a ship made already? Never fear! The Hampton Roads Naval Museum will set up a ship-building station during the program, where anyone can build their own ships to enter into the contest or create one from our own diagrams. Build everything from simple ship designs to a scale representation of the Civil War ironclad USS Monitor. At 2 p.m. on February 4, staff members and members of the local Lego hobbyist group, HARDLUG, will hold a contest for all participants.
Prizes will be given to the winner of the “Best Adult-Built Ship” and “Best Child-Built Ship”.
