The Naval History and Heritage Command (NHHC) Archives is preparing for a recently awarded major construction project to fix its records’ storage environment in building 108 at the Washington Navy Yard. In addition, it is engaging in a parallel project to reduce a large processing backlog. Both are necessary to protect the collections they hold and greatly improve access to the valuable records in the collections. Starting this month, the archives will close for short periods of one to two weeks to allow staff to focus on implementing these two essential projects. The first periods of closure will be from November 13th through the 16th 2012, and the second from December 3rd through the 7th 2012. They appreciate your cooperation and support in adjusting your information requests and research visits to allow them to focus on these critical projects.
The Operational Archives at the Washington Navy Yard is open for researchers from 0900-1600 Mondays and Fridays only.
